Child Hunger Awareness Week: Wear Orange Wednesday

WEAR orange wednesday

Nearly one-quarter of children in Montana experience food insecurity with their families.  Additionally, 30 percent of the individuals Gallatin Valley Food Bank serves are children.

Child Hunger Awareness Week is April 5th-9th.  Montana No Kid Hungry has organized Wear Orange Wednesday to help spread awareness of child hunger in Montana. The color orange represents child hunger awareness, join us by wearing the color orange and help us spread awareness in reducing childhood hunger in our state!  Share a picture with #WearOrangeWednesday and tag the HRDC, Gallatin Valley Food Bank, and Montana No Kid Hungry.  On Saturday, April 10th is the Spring For Food Drive, which will go to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank and their child nutrition programs. At grocery stores all around Bozeman and Belgrade, food bank volunteers will be distributing donation wish lists and collecting donations.

Know someone who could use some extra groceries one time, monthly, or weekly?  Tell them about the Food Bank and their resources! The food bank and their programs are open to all people.  Get in the know about their programs HERE

Child Care Connections cares about child nutrition. With the CACFP program, children and adults in Montana have access to affordable, nutritious meals.  The CACFP helps children learn healthy eating habits early on and supports healthy lifelong habits.
