Throughout March, 2021 we’ve been collecting amazing submissions to our Second Annual Coloring Contest! Kids are drawing what they love to do outside and we love the results.
During April, it’s time to celebrate the young artists in our community! Join us in the activities below for fun ways to help support kids, families, and early childhood in your community!
People's Choice: April 7th -14th
From April 7th – 14th, the People’s Choice component of the Coloring Contest will open right here! We need the help of our whole community to help pick the favorite entries in each age category for our 2nd Annual Coloring Contest!

- View the recording HERE
- Heidi Lester is a self-taught oil and knife artist currently chilling in Glendive MT. Using mainly oil-based paint, she uses the ‘shape of the color’ to guide her as she creates. Teaching children to express themselves, especially through art, is an experience all children should have. Imagination can be more important than talent!
March 18th- Pottery and pinch pots with Teri Whitesitt

- Supplies to follow along: Air dry clay available at craft stores, playdough, or make your own HERE!
- Teri was raised in her grandmother’s ceramic shop. A few times a year, her family would drive to Glacier and dig red clay, which her grandmother would process and throw on the wheel. Teri spent many hours in her show painting, listening to stories, and developing a love of clay at an early age. She started getting serious about pottery about 10 years ago, and just opened up a public studio, Next of Kiln, in Three Forks last November!

Angela will be introducing students to a series of drawing and body exercises that help get the two halves of your brain working together and improving creativity and thinking skills. For the purposes of this video, the activities have been sped up slightly but are intended to be done slowly paying attention to details and focusing your concentration. These educational kinesthetic activities are helpful in promoting whole-brain learning. Yonke combines “Brain Gym” activities with drawing games to challenge your focus and observation skills in a fun and artistic way.
